HOSPICE CARE OF SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN, a recognized leader in the southwestern Michigan area for providing compassionate end of life care, is currently seeking a
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is charged with the overall direction and provision of the organization's clinical services. Duties and responsibilities: Develops new clinical programing and enhances current programing to meet the needs of clients, families and the community. Develops, implements and monitors all clinical policies and procedures. Evaluates operational indicators and makes appropriate changes to the care and staffing models to ensure quality and safe care is delivered and staffing levels are sufficient to support this care. Maintains positive, professional and cooperative relationships with all contracted community partners. Negotiates, maintains and monitors all clinical contractual agreements to ensure quality, efficient and cost-efficient service provision. Coordinates and oversees the agency's response to all audit requests from regulators and payer sources. Handles all client concerns which are elevated through the formal complaint process. Creates, implements and manages the annual budget for all clinical operational areas and reviews monthly financial reports, expenses and income, and makes recommendations and revisions as necessary. Assists in setting an agency culture of inclusiveness, accountability, teamwork, values led behavior and continual learning. Ensures these are applied consistently across all clinical areas, resulting in high employee engagement. Works with clinical leaders to create a climate which attracts, retains, and motivates a quality-focused, diverse staff. Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the hospice industry. Plans for enhancements to programs related to these trends, which are consistent with the purposes and resources of the agency. Provides direction and guidance to all clinical leaders and ensures an effective clinical team is in place; Complies with all current federal, state, and local regulations governing hospice programs including Medicare Conditions of Participation. Ensures maintenance of clinical records and documents to support regulatory compliance. Candidates for this position must be passionate about end of life care and must be committed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan's mission and vision. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Nursing or other health care related field. Candidates possessing current Registered Nurse licensure are strongly preferred. Candidates must also have five to seven years of previous experience preferably in a hospice setting or in a non-profit management or health care management position including previous supervisory responsibilities.
